From Childhood You Have Known

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

These timeless words, written to Timothy by the Apostle Paul, serve to remind every believer in each successive generation of the great responsibility entrusted to us. We are to diligently teach God’s truth—the Bible—to our children and students in a manner that guides them toward a vibrant faith in Christ, walking in His ways, and being equipped for a life of fruitful service. This is the essence and goal of biblical literacy.

This two-part booklet has been written to help inspire and better equip the church and home to raise up a generation of children who know and love the Bible. Part 1 provides 10 foundational priorities to pursue. Part 2 gives practical guidance for training children to read and study the Bible in various age categories.
