Baton Accessory Kit (5-Pack)

Baton Accessory Kit (5-Pack)

One of the suggested elements for child dedications is to provide families with a baton containing a prayer, certificate, and letter—to be opened on their child’s 18th birthday. Churches may decide to adopt this tradition and order batons with the color and logo of their choice.

Our Baton Accessory Kit (5-Pack) includes supplies to complete 5 batons:

  • 10 end caps
  • 5 feet of plastic sleeving (to keep documents contained)
  • Detailed instructions for assembling the batons

The baton itself is NOT included. Please see this page for baton ordering options. And learn more about the principles behind dedications from these resources.

More Product Information

Churches often mark the occasion of child dedications by presenting parents with a certificate, gift, or symbol. A beautiful tradition from one of the churches where David Michael pastored is to provide dedicating families a baton for each child, symbolizing the passing of faith from one generation to the next. This developed into a time capsule of sorts to be opened on the child’s 18th birthday.

The contents may include:

  • a pastoral letter
  • the promises the parents made
  • the prayer of dedication that was prayed
  • a certificate with a text based on the benediction/blessing used in the service
  • a list of the other children who were dedicated on the same day

Parents receive copies of everything so that the baton may remain sealed. It is our hope that by sharing this idea, many congregations would be encouraged to adopt this same tradition. While it’s easier for churches to purchase their own batons with their choice of branding, we want to help by providing kits with the extra components needed (since we looked far and wide to find them)!
