The speed at which our culture seems to be heading for destruction as it shakes its collective fist at the sovereign Ruler of the universe simply takes my breath away. Consider how quickly God’s good design of male and female has been rejected and replaced by an irrational and rebellious belief in self-determination. You can be anything that you identify as and can change your mind at will. Furthermore, everyone must accommodate, heartedly affirm, and celebrate your choices.
Yes, times are changing at record speed. How are Christians to keep up and rightly respond? How do we adequately prepare our children and youth to stand firm and not be swayed by the deceptions of this present darkness? First and foremost, we must confidently and continuously ground them in the eternal and unchanging TRUTH of GOD’S WORD, which has absolute authority over EVERY aspect and sphere of life.
“…I the LORD speak the truth…” (Isaiah 45:19)
Every word of God proves true… (Proverbs 30:5)
…the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Next, we must intentionally and carefully teach our children and youth how to evaluate everything through the truth of Scripture—seeing everything through a biblical “lens” (see this blog post). That is why we felt it important to create two curricula for youth that dig deeper into this subject:
Your Word Is Truth: A Study for Youth on Seeing All of Life through the Truth of Scripture
Rejoicing In God’s Good Design: A Study for Youth on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
As some people have noted, these two curricula (which were published 10 years ago) are already behind the changing times in some lesson illustrations and cultural examples. Back then, things like “Critical Race Theory” or the rise of “trans and queer” issues weren’t even on the horizon. Are these curricula still relevant and helpful? We would answer: Yes, absolutely! Because each lesson is grounded in unchanging biblical truth!
Here are a few things to know going forward:
- Truth78 is working diligently to revise and update certain content of these curricula.
- Until the revision/update is complete, we suggest that teachers mention current cultural examples along with those noted in the curricula—the biblical truths presented in the lessons still speak with absolute authority over any “new” trends.
- In the coming weeks, the Truth78 Blog will be providing additional help for teachers in adjusting specific lesson topics.
Our youth desperately need to be taught and guided in understanding the culture through a distinctly biblical worldview. If we don’t do this, the world is more than happy to provide them with a dangerous and deadly alternative. Let’s go dig deep and wide into God’s unchanging TRUTH.
