What’s the big deal about developing a “vision-driven” ministry to children and youth? In their seminar, "The Importance of Sharing and Spreading the Vision," Ian and Nina Fry began addressing this question by giving us some thoughts to ponder.
In 1943 Winston Churchill addressed a joint session of Congress.
"By singleness of purpose, by steadfastness of conduct, by tenacity and endurance…by this and only this can we discharge our duty to the future of the world and to the destiny of man."
What is the Vision we want to pass on?
One way to answer that question is to simply ask the following questions:
- What do we want to be true for the next generation in 20 years?
- What you want to be true for your children as they move toward eternity?
As we answer these questions our vision begins to take shape:
- What do we want to rule and shape the goals they set and the decisions that they make?
- How do we want them to respond when they suffer disappointment, tragedy, loss, failure, and diseases in their lives or in the lives of the people they love?
- How do we want them to deal with temptation and sin?
- What kind of husband/father, or wife/mother do we want them to be?
- How do we want them to determine their priorities for using their time and resources?
