Gifts to Help Children Treasure God's Word

I recently received a children’s “Christmas Gift Giving Guide” in the mail. Page after page had the latest, greatest, and most popular toys and gadgets for kids. Many would appeal to my grandkids—especially the Lego sets—and I can imagine them having hours of creative fun. However, none of these gifts can come anywhere near to doing the following for them:

revive the soul, make wise the simple, rejoice the heart, and enlighten the eyes (Psalm 19:7-8)
keep their way pure and guard their hearts from sin (Psalm 119:9,11)
make them wise for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15)
lead them to believe in Christ and have life in His name (John 20:31)
train them in righteousness and equip them for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
give them abiding, eternal hope (1 Peter 1:23-24)

What are all the above referring to? God’s holy Word—the Bible. Yes, Legos and other toys, crafts, and gadgets are fun to give to the children in your life, but also consider gifts that will serve to help them read, study, understand, and treasure God’s Word.
