Are They Being Fed the Bible?

Are They Being Fed the Bible?

“I’m starving Grandma. I’m starving!” These were the earnest and pleading words of my four-year-old grandson one day. He had just experienced a 24-hour stomach virus that had rendered him depleted of food. Now, that he was finally feeling better, he became fully aware of the physical gnawing of his empty tummy. All he could think of was, “I need food! I want food!”

Jesus Himself can sympathize with that physical longing for life-sustaining food, but even more so. After all, how many of us have found ourselves out in the wilderness for 40 days without any food to eat? Starving! Furthermore, in that moment of extreme hunger, the devil came to tempt Jesus.

…“If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that come from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:3-4)

What an amazing answer, packed with profound meaning regarding the Word of God! Do we sincerely believe this to be true about the Bible? Do we see God’s Word as absolutely necessary for sustaining our lives? Do we long for it more than we hunger for food? Are we communicating this reality to our children? As we diligently provide children with the physical food they require, are we also setting the highest priority on providing them with the spiritual food needed to give them an unshakable hope, fullness of joy, and life everlasting? In other words, are the children in our homes and churches being fed the Bible?

That is why Truth78 is excited to release a new discipleship series called Growing In the Word. Each booklet in the series aims to inspire and better equip the church and home to raise up a generation of children who know, trust, and treasure the Bible. God has given us a Book like no other, and we have been given the great responsibility and privilege to pass its life-giving truth to the next generation. Their very life and eternal joy depend upon it!
